Chargebee is a subscription management platform. It automates recurring billing, invoicing, proration, dunning, tax and revenue recognition on top of payment gateways like Stripe, aimed at SaaS and subscription businesses.
Chargebee sits between your payment gateway and your business, handling the complexity of recurring revenue: subscription plans and add-ons, usage-based and hybrid pricing, proration, coupons, dunning (failed-payment recovery), tax and multi-currency, plus revenue recognition and analytics like MRR and churn. It integrates with Stripe, Braintree and other gateways rather than processing payments itself.
Chargebee takes a modular approach: the core Billing product plus separate products for CPQ, Revenue Recognition (RevRec) and Retention, each priced on its own. Billing is priced on the revenue processed through the platform, not per seat.
The Billing product has three tiers. Starter is free for the first $250,000 in cumulative (lifetime) billing, then charges 0.75% on all billing beyond that. Performance is $599/month (billed annually as $7,188) and covers up to $100,000 in monthly billing before the same 0.75% overage applies. Enterprise is custom, adding multi-entity support, account hierarchy and custom contracts. Add-on modules and some integrations cost extra.
